Flock Together - Opening Event

Museum offices are a secret hotbed of creativity. Behind the blockbuster exhibitions sold out weeks in advance, and with million-pound budgets to stage – are the hardworking museum staff; from curators and conservators to those doing the documentation, audits, mount-making, photography, digitisation, accounts, IT, and everything else that the public doesn’t see and rarely knows about.

Many of these workers come from creative backgrounds – lots went to art school and applied their creative skills to working with historic objects and artworks. What has brought most people to work in a museum is a love of ‘stuff’ – old stuff, human stuff, and how we tell stories and communicate with stuff – which is pretty much what art does.
